Money Piece$ -Whats the point?

You’ve heard it a million times, but can you spot it? They’re elusive and still obvious, and they're the reason instagram influencers have so many followers (maybe I made that one up, but it does seem to be a trend in that community). A “money piece” can completely change a balayage, and i`t's only a couple of hairs (too dramatic?). Before we talk about why you need them, let’s talk about what they are: the name basically means they're worth their weight in gold.

They are arguably the most important part of a balayage (says me, I'm obsessed). They are the two highlighted sections that frame the face, and what’s different about them, is that they usually go all the way to the root. The idea is that bringing lightness around your face is the key to a natural sun-kissed look, but we went ahead and upped the ante by adding a contrasting darker piece right behind it. One can not exist without the other. The dark piece is so small and unnoticeable that its main purpose is just to bring attention to the lighter piece, making it the star of the show and giving it its famous name.

A question we get often is, can I have a balayage and not have the “money piece” (I know, who would ever), and the answer is, of course! It’s an awesome add-on, but not completely necessary. Make sure to ask about them during your consultation so you get your desired result.
